95MPH of Drama in the air

Hey everyone, just a few words about my last jump and the fun that follows it- Yes, my jump of 394.7 feet was pretty wicked, and the wind died down just enough for that one and only attempt i would get that day.  Add to that a Guinness rep. wasn’t present at the time of the jump to record it.  Where are these guys when you need them!! Anyway, our video guy, a couple of professional surveyors, plus a few witnesses would qualify us for a really cool jump of 394 feet. Oh, & the dirt underneath me when I am clearing the last 100 feet takes me out of contention for a clear gap jump record, BUT that’s NOT my goal out here right now as you can see!  But hey, I am working hard at this deal, doing what I love and then sharing it with you here on Shred or Die.  Check out my videos, my location, jump design, landing layout and style of flying my bike, they are all unique, and I’ve worked pretty hard to get to this point to share it with everyone.  But some of these elements are done to ensure my safety so I can continue to build my skills and get the proper stats I need to reach some future goals of mine.  With just a few elite riders in the world who are breaking long distance world records and clear gap records, I give madd props to those guys. The fact is, when it comes down to the actual distance I can fly MY DIRT BIKE- those figures are for real, and I am hitting the big numbers and have been for quite some time now.  It would be great to have a level playing field in this sport but not everyone gets the big sponsors right away; but as for me, I’ve got a very determined mindset, and it’s my goal to grab the attention of everyone and what I am capable of, and where I intend to go as I continue to push the ramp back on distance jumping.  Stay tuned.. we will have more footage to share with you soon!   Thanks, Bird

next jump coming soon

Well it has been approximately one week since I broke the world distance record with a 394 foot jump. It was great having all the support from my sponsors like Wyvern Motosports, De Wayne Jones and Powerband Films  as well as my lady Sonya to help me jump as far as I did. The 450 4 stroke was a bit heavier in the air than I originally expected.  So I have a new game plan which not only will be lighter in the air but will also help me get up to speed quicker. De Wayne Jones is building me his version of the service 500. For those who don't know about this bike her are some specs on it. It is basically a 500cc 2 stroke motor which sits in a 250 frame. This bike will be significantly lighter and is ridiculously fast.  Once this bike is complete in the next few weeks i will be ready to go back to battle for a further jump. I can not say how far I will be jumping but be prepared for a very high number. I just wanted to thank all my friends and fans on the SOD site for believing in me and sticking up for me. Anyone who doubts me at this point (like larrymoto) needs to quit writing negative comments and come out to my set up and jump off against me. Whether you're scared or not please try to respect what I am doing as I would do the same for you.  Thanks again to everyone and hope to have some further jumps for you soon.

394 feet and 7 inches record jump to a natural terrain landing

Bird_World_Record_Jump.jpg

Update 6/23/08 The surveyor, Nick Gilmer, was on-site to give us the official measurement. He used a GPS laser instrument which measures distance vertically and horizontally using a line of site and  is accurate within a tenth of a millimeter. The exact distance calculated for my jump Saturday morning was 394 feet and 7 inches.  I landed 5 feet lower than the tip of my ramp.  There have been a lot of other distance jumpers and people in the industry who are skeptical about my jumps and seem to not believe it is the real deal. Well I can tell you this--I hit that ramp at approximately 98 mph and was in the air for about 5 seconds, so you can do the math on it.

Saturday morning the Bird flew farther than anyone in history onto a natural terrain landing.

I would like to thank all my sponsors including: Wyvern Motosports, POWERBAND FILMS, Oneal Racing, Dragon Alliance, De Wayne Jones Suspension Performance, Vent Clothing, Honda Pro Oils, Bravo and anyone else who I forgot.  Thanks for believeing in me. We are not even close to done. 400 feet is only 5 feet away and I plan to come back very soon and clear that distance by at least 20 feet next time.  All I need to do is pull the ramp back and hit it at 100mph and change the degree pitch one more time and I'm there.

395!!!

So today I flew futher than anyone ever has on a motorcycle....395 feet!  I almost landed on the flat so time to pull the ramp back again and fly even further.  I'll be posting footage soon so keep checking back.

new 4 stroke distance record to natural terrain landing

This morning my original plan was just to do a few speed runs and continue testing my new suspension from De Wayne Jones on the 200 ft. natural jump. When I headed towards the ramp on my 2nd speed run I just decided to go for it. It was a bit scary because after the first speed run the batteries went out in our radar gun so I had no idea how fast I was going on the 2nd speed run. I backed off quite a bit on the throttle. I hit the ramp in my usual low flying tucked position and soared 330 ft. and 6 inches.

So almost by accident I set a new 4 stroke record today. Tomorrow morning we plan to get up to some higher numbers and hopefully set another record. Stay tuned to SOD to see what happens next.

Thursday prep and speed run

Thursday was another super hot day reaching over 100 degrees fahrenheit. We did some dry speed runs on the 450 today reaching 101 mph. Once we actually apply water to the inrun the application should be able to give me about 103-105 mph. Plus I still have to re-gear my bike so getting up to 105 mph should be no problem. We raked the 200 foot test dirt to dirt hill jump today which I was able to jump and test my low flying ability and suspension.

It's now 6am Friday morning and were going to do some more test runs and then throw down some water. If everything goes well we may try a jump in the afternoon as long as the wind stays calm.

Stay tuned and we will keep you posted on todays activities.
