BIRD's Blog: 394 feet and 7 inches record jump to a natural terrain landing

Update 6/23/08 The surveyor, Nick Gilmer, was on-site to give us the official measurement. He used a GPS laser instrument which measures distance vertically and horizontally using a line of site and  is accurate within a tenth of a millimeter. The exact distance calculated for my jump Saturday morning was 394 feet and 7 inches.  I landed 5 feet lower than the tip of my ramp.  There have been a lot of other distance jumpers and people in the industry who are skeptical about my jumps and seem to not believe it is the real deal. Well I can tell you this--I hit that ramp at approximately 98 mph and was in the air for about 5 seconds, so you can do the math on it.

Saturday morning the Bird flew farther than anyone in history onto a natural terrain landing.

I would like to thank all my sponsors including: Wyvern Motosports, POWERBAND FILMS, Oneal Racing, Dragon Alliance, De Wayne Jones Suspension Performance, Vent Clothing, Honda Pro Oils, Bravo and anyone else who I forgot.  Thanks for believeing in me. We are not even close to done. 400 feet is only 5 feet away and I plan to come back very soon and clear that distance by at least 20 feet next time.  All I need to do is pull the ramp back and hit it at 100mph and change the degree pitch one more time and I'm there.
