atwater's Blog: Atwater invades Camp Woodward!!

A week ago FUEL TV asked a few artist to come out to Woodward west to throw some art up on the walls before the campers started to flood the parks for summer camp. One of the artists asked to participate in this event was Atwaters President Dean Bradley also known as "Mainframe" in the art community. Mainframe has participated in a few other projects hosted by FUEL TV so when they asked him to come out to Woodward he took full advantage and asked if kind people at FUEL TV if we could invite some of the Atwater Skate team to come enjoy the uncrowded park and they said yes. We left on Friday morning for our 3 hour drive out to Tehachapi CA. We arrived and Dean started to paint. I wondered around this massive playground in amazement since there was nobody there skating, talk about a kid in a candy store.
Saturday came with the rest of the Atwater skate team arriving around noon to participate in what might be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Jerry Hafner, James Reed and Isidro Vargas arrived along with skate photographer Carl Carpeinter. These guys hit the park and didn't stop for a good 5 hours. Both Jerry and James were nabbing some great lines throughout the indoor park and landing some amazing transfers like Big Jerry's bowl to bowl transfer that he nearly killed himself on but pulled in the end. Isidro was landing some clean tailslides and nosegrinds down every rail on the woodward property.
At the end of the day we left with 2 Mainframe's painted across a wall and a very happy skate team headed back home. Thanks to FUEL TV, Neal Nendrix, and Woodward West for an amazing time.
