SKATE vs THPS

Lets see what everyones thinking about the new game by EA, SKATE. Do you prefer the style of Tony Hawks Pro Skater (Project 8 specifically) or are you into the new age physics of EA’s Skate?

Personally, i think SKATE is way more realistic and has a pretty extensive carrer mode, but THPS blows skate away in the variety of tricks you can perform..

Skate doesnt even let you get off the board or do acid drops, you are always stuck on the board. no boneless, no foot plants, wallplants, none of it. just straight up flip tricks, grabs, and grinds.

While tony hawk pro skater has great tricks and awesome gameplay, its physics are a little unrealistic. Watching the commercial for Proving Grounds today, they jump incredible feats like nothing.

Dude! Seriously? Whats do you think Tony Hawk prefers? If you had a game called NaturalBMX420 Brain Basher, don’t you PERSONALLY think it would be the best brain basher game on the market? I think you would. and skate feels like real skating. well other than the smashed shins and hippers.

Wow! that’s going back a ways. how about skate or die on NES. we went apeshit when we finally had a decent skating game. 720 was kinda wonky, you know. i remember thasher as being almost TOO sim like. i think i could skate better in real life than in that game.

I am pretty undecisive about which is better. They both have their goods and bads. Thrasher and Skate or die were good games too, but i was trying to focus on the new age of skate sims.

Since the first thing focused on was how i thought it would be cool to see what tony says, i did remove that part. i just wanted to see what everyone thinks about the differences between the two games. Mostly between Project 8 and skate, since Proving Grounds is not available yet. BUT I heard Proving Grounds is supposed to have amazing board controls for every aspect of skating, past only controlling flip tricks in air.

I must say though, i love the mega ramp in Skate, very realistic and lots of fun. I wish i had the resources, and the balls to do something that giant in real life.

Dear god was Thrasher frustrating. If anything I liked… man, what was it called? I think it came out on the Playstation 2… GRIND SESSION! I liked that one a little more than the Tony Hawk’s games-after three of them I got a bit bored-but with Skate out now.. man, just so much to do in it. I can go crazy or try to throw together realistic runs. Fun stuff.

Easiest question of all time, SKATE by EA is by far the best skate game ever made!
