(4:26) Here is a short video I made as a school project for my Participation In Government class three months into my senior year of high school in 1991. We were allowed to pick our own topic so of course I picked skateboarding. If I wasn't riding my skateboard, then I was watching a skateboard video and this eventually made me curious on how they were made and wanting to make videos myself. I had already made a video entitled, "Say Cheese", before this school project so I already had a head start. I already had filmed some skate footage of my friends so I went out and shot the couple of interviews out on the street and the interviews with my friends to complete the filming. I edited the video on two VCRs and borrowed some type of audio mixer from Radio Shack from a friend to add in the music and narration (all in one take). Total rig job. In typical school project fashion I waited until the last minute and made the video the night before. I didn't even have a fresh, blank VHS tape to turn the project in on... I submitted it at the end of one of those Vision NSA contest videos from 1986. I turned the project in on time and the next day in class my teacher made an announcement that she was going to play the video for the whole class. I was like, "oh shit!", everyone already hated me 'cause I was a skater, "now they're really gonna hate me." So, the video was played and people dug it and were kinda impressed I think because they we're reacting to the skating while it played and asked me lots of questions after. The point made in the video (is there even one?) is pretty poor but my teacher rewarded me with an A+ due to the fact that I actually made a video. All the other students just handed in crummy charts and graphs. She even played it for all her other classes. I win. (5:49) Xcorps Action Sports Show #20.)"XPO"-seg4- This high rolling Xcorps episode doses the viewer with host Eric Ducharme riding the rare Randal motorized skateboard and features a cool Xsports event called the Extreme XPO all powered by new music and video from one of our favorite bands- Primus. The show opens with a skate jam at a local Encinitas Ca parking lot with Eric The X Guru fueling up the unique Randal mid engine motor board. Not sold in stores and with only 60 made in 1995 by Randal, known for their high speed skate trucks, this rare board rocks with a 27cc shaft drive motor, centrifugal clutch and Randal skate trucks. Great on board POV shots here as Eric demo rides this very cool board wide open. Hear how he rates the rig. Next the show rolls back in time to 1997 to the Del Mar California fairgrounds and an event produced by the X Guru called the Extreme XPO. This huge indoor/outdoor Xfest illustrates how our producers were way ahead of the times by featuring sports like mountain boarding, freestyle BMX with Ryan Nyquist on his Haro along with half pipe action on inline skates, bikes and boards and even a few words from host Jason Lazo at the start of his on camera TV career. Check a wacky pack race around the track with pocket bikes, 4 man Go Peds, Rollercycles, Fly bikes and Eric on a mini cart. Nice style Xman. Freestyle races rule especially with a mixed bag like this! After that Eric intros a new video from our friends at RIVE with new Primus recorded live November 2004 at Chicagos Aragon Ballroom. Good to see Primus back onstage again. After the break Primus returns with more live video from their Hallucino-Genetics tour and a performance of the song Pudding Time backed by shots from local Encinitas skate jammers who can stick their moves. Meanwhile the XGURU takes a few more gas powered runs on his classic Randal motor board. The show wraps with some comedy from Primus and a theatrical look at band member Les Claypool in the year 2065 talking about their Woodstock 1994 gig! Hoffman first set the record in 1992 by being towed into a 20ft high ramp and soaring 20ft above that, putting him 40ft above the ground. He has since improved on that record several times and the current mark stands at 26.5ft above a 24ft ramp, 50.5ft above the ground. Kevin's Super Quarter Pipe will be 27ft high, meaning he will have to be 27ft above the top of the ramp and soar over 54ft above the ground to break the world record. < less
