SKATEBOARDING: IS IT A CRIME? from Larry Ransom

SKATEBOARDING: IS IT A CRIME? (04:26)

Here is a short video I made as a school project for my Participation In Government class three months into my senior year of high school in 1991. We were allowed to pick our own topic so of course I picked skateboarding. If I wasn't riding my skateboard, then I was watching a skateboard video and this eventually made me curious on how they were made and wanting to make videos myself. I had already made a video entitled, "Say Cheese", before this school project so I already had a head start. I already had filmed some skate footage of my friends so I went out and shot the couple of interviews out on the street and the interviews with my friends to complete the filming. I edited the video on two VCRs and borrowed some type of audio mixer from Radio Shack from a friend to add in the music and narration (all in one take). Total rig job. In typical school project fashion I waited until the last minute and made the video the night before. I didn't even have a fresh, blank VHS tape to turn the project in on... I submitted it at the end of one of those Vision NSA contest videos from 1986. I turned the project in on time and the next day in class my teacher made an announcement that she was going to play the video for the whole class. I was like, "oh shit!", everyone already hated me 'cause I was a skater, "now they're really gonna hate me." So, the video was played and people dug it and were kinda impressed I think because they we're reacting to the skating while it played and asked me lots of questions after. The point made in the video (is there even one?) is pretty poor but my teacher rewarded me with an A+ due to the fact that I actually made a video. All the other students just handed in crummy charts and graphs. She even played it for all her other classes. I win. Skaters in the video are: Eric Shugats, Joe Cassenti, Larry Ransom, Stan Knight, Chris Fritton, Chris Crenshaw, Mike Drinkwalter, Andy Gulkin and Salman Agah. Written on the VHS tape label: P.I.G. Xcorps Action Sports TV #1.) INVERT seg.3 from Xcorps

Xcorps Action Sports TV #1.) INVERT seg.3 (06:46)

Xcorps Action Sports Show #1.)"INVERT"-seg3- This first episode opens with host and X Corps member Jason Lazo in Los Angeles at Maverick Records picking up the music and videos for this fast paced So Cal X sports show called “Invert”. Jason talks with record label honcho Fred Croshal about current Maverick artists such as Madonna, Alanis Morissette, Prodigy and The Deftones as well as other upcoming projects. After that Jason and the X Corps girls are back in Irvine California at the Invert Carnival where insane Moto X pro’s from the “Metal Mulisha” are going huge! Then at the half pipe a BMX rider does a huge “Superman” and sexy X Corps host Roslyn Bradle gets mobbed by autograph seekers. Go Roz baby! Jason and Roz then preview the new Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 video game. Pretty cool game action footage here from Activision – the makers of the game – cut to music from the game soundtrack featuring the bands “Sum 41”, “Pennywise”, “Papa Roach”, ”Soul Hooligan”, “Drowning Pool”, “Ozomatli” and others to keep things rolling hard! Video clips, sound bytes and advise from Tony Hawk who also talks about PAIN and what the word means to him. Then more invert action with Jason talking to pro skater Scott Taylor from Activision about Tony and the new skate game. Jason intro’s the new song and video “Cadillac” from the band “Mest”. After the break Jason and Roslyn open an extreme water ski segment called “The Waters Edge” produced by The Gary Paul Agency. See wild bare foot ski jumping, wake and knee boarding, water hand stands, stilt skiing, boom ski wars and an Elvis museum tour all cut to music from the “Outcast” song “Bombs over Baghdad”. Timely. After that X Corps hosts Bob Woodard and Eric “Big Air” Ducharme demo some new products – The “Hammerhead” skateboard and the “Blade Z XTR” electric scooter, products just now hitting the streets. After the break Jason and Fred Croshal are back at Maverick Records for a “Maverick Minute” previewing the new song and video from Marilyn Manson “Tainted Love”. After that in the “Coming Soon” segment of the show are scenes from the new mountain board video “Flirt With Dirt” and the new “Flowlab” skateboard. 12/2001 TRT-29:30 Closed captioned. ©2006 The Xcorps See The Action Hear The Music Join The Xcorps
