someone as being the best skater in town? Then years later you see
the footage again (or the skater) and they are nothing like you
remember... The slam was soft, the skater was fat and can barely ollie.
I was worried that this was the case with this Hosoi slam from a 1985
Mt Trashmore contest. My good friend Dave Messick filmed this, and
I'm pretty sure he is the only one that did. He originally showed
me the footage around 1995 and I was blown away...You see, Hosoi just
didn't slam like that! Especially when he was doing his trademark
airs on the edge of the ramp. I called Dave a few months ago to dig
it out of the vaults, and it was just as good if not better then i
remembered!! Enjoy this piece of history! < less

With $50k up for grabs it came down to who could land the best back to back combo on the 7 and 11. Could Dyet defend his title? Would Lutzka upstage him this year? Or would it be an unknown stepping up to take everyone out. Check it out and watch it all unfold.........Slaughter At The Opera!!! < less

There are three main spots he skates in this video: Nashville TN Metro Skatepark, Franklin TN Plaza, and the KWC area in Owensboro KY. We drove 2 hours down to Nashville to check out the Franklin Plaza for the first time. Bly got there and just threw down the backside flip without even ollie'ing the 8 set first. We didn't get to stay long as a friend's truck broke and we had to go back into Nashville to get him a new truck. We were at Franklin for a little over an hour. We the truck fixed and went to Metro (aka CWC). Bly hadn't been there since January of 2007 so he was really eager to skate the euro and hips. Again jumps out of the car and starts killin the place. Cab flip up the euro gap, tre haymaker up the euro. Metro was oddly vacant that day so Bly was able to hit a hip that you normally can't come at the way he did because if the flow of traffic. So he nailed 4 big spin double flips over the shallow hip - the one you are seeing was the cleanest of them. Bly kills tech street manuevers due to the fact that we have no skatepark in Ownebsoro KY so when he gets to go places and skate he's usually trying his tricks on new obstacles for the first time - and that's largely what you're seeing in his footythat I post here.
Bly is currently 15 years old.
Sponsored by: Etnies (flow), Blue Wallace Skateshop (Bowling Green, KY), and Blue Balls Bearings. Bly is looking for deck, truck, and wheel sponsorship.

We were allowed to pick our own topic so of course I picked skateboarding.
If I wasn't riding my skateboard, then I was watching a skateboard video and this eventually made me curious on how they were made and wanting to make videos myself. I had already made a video entitled, "Say Cheese", before this school project so I already had a head start.
I already had filmed some skate footage of my friends so I went out and shot the couple of interviews out on the street and the interviews with my friends to complete the filming. I edited the video on two VCRs and borrowed some type of audio mixer from Radio Shack from a friend to add in the music and narration (all in one take). Total rig job.
In typical school project fashion I waited until the last minute and made the video the night before. I didn't even have a fresh, blank VHS tape to turn the project in on... I submitted it at the end of one of those Vision NSA contest videos from 1986.
I turned the project in on time and the next day in class my teacher made an announcement that she was going to play the video for the whole class. I was like, "oh shit!", everyone already hated me 'cause I was a skater, "now they're really gonna hate me." So, the video was played and people dug it and were kinda impressed I think because they we're reacting to the skating while it played and asked me lots of questions after.
The point made in the video (is there even one?) is pretty poor but my teacher rewarded me with an A+ due to the fact that I actually made a video. All the other students just handed in crummy charts and graphs. She even played it for all her other classes. I win.
Skaters in the video are: Eric Shugats, Joe Cassenti, Larry Ransom, Stan Knight, Chris Fritton, Chris Crenshaw, Mike Drinkwalter, Andy Gulkin and Salman Agah.
Written on the VHS tape label:
